Correct measurement is the foundation of quality, safety, and efficiency in today’s fast-moving world of process control and industrial automation. One of the most essential tools in this setup is the flowmeter, an instrument that measures liquid, gas, or slurry flow within a conduit or pipe.
At Sharp Control Equipments Pvt. Ltd., we focus on delivering services and solutions that bring value that flowmeters have to offer to a broad range of industries such as cement, steel, power, water treatment, pharmaceuticals, and others. Being experts in process instrumentation and automation, we seek to bring out the ways in which these instruments improve control systems and add to overall operational excellence.
Why Flow Measurement Matters
Flow measurement is essential in the following industry modules:
Process Optimization: Ideal flow rates are maintained to ensure product quality and energy efficiency.
Safety & Compliance: Accurate flow information prevents overpressure, leaks, or dangerous situations.
Cost Control: Reliable flow measurement is crucial for accurate billing and resource management.
Environmental Monitoring: In industries regulated by pollution control standards, flowmeters play a vital role in effluent and emission monitoring.
Types of Flowmeters and Their Applications
At Sharp Control Equipments, we offer a wide variety of flowmeters tailored to specific industrial applications:
1. Electromagnetic Flowmeters
Ideal for conductive liquids, these are widely used in water treatment, slurry management, and chemical dosing.
2. Ultrasonic Flowmeters;
It is noninvasive and highly accurate, suitable for clean liquids and gases, and often used in HVAC and water distribution systems.
3. Coriolis Flowmeters
Reputed for their accuracy in mass flow measurement, particularly in the oil & gas, food, and beverage industries.
4. Thermal Mass Flowmeters
Used mainly for gas flow measurement, with high turndown ratios and low maintenance.
5. Differential Pressure Flowmeters
Used in conventional process industries where tried-and-tested measurement methods are used.
Case Study: Application of a Flowmeter For the ETP Project
Sharp Control Equipments completed the installation of a flowmeter at Haldiram’s ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant) in Kapsi successfully.
Process Overview: The 30-day project included the installation and calibration of an electromagnetic flowmeter for water measurement purposes. Since there was no existing SCADA or PLC system at the site, the flowmeter was calibrated and tested in the factory itself before installation. The installation was shared with Haldiram’s technical staff, and operator training was also conducted to facilitate smooth operation.
Outcome: After the installation, Haldiram’s staff had accurate visibility into the usage of water across various units and could monitor wastage effectively. Client response was extremely positive, enjoying the increased process control and operational visibility, though no AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) was commissioned.
Integration with Control Systems
Industrial processes today require real-time integration of data. Flowmeters, when connected to PLC-SCADA systems, offer continuous feedback that assists in:
- Automating control loops
- Reducing manual intervention
- Enhancing predictive maintenance strategies
Under our automation solutions, Sharp Control Equipments provides effortless flowmeter integration on all leading PLC and SCADA platforms to provide end-to-end process visibility and control.
Flowmeters are now more than just instruments, they are intelligent sensors at the heart of the digital revolution of industrial processes. Be it reducing zero liquid discharge, maximizing batch production, or complying with environmental standards, applying flowmeters in process control is imperative.
At Sharp Control Equipments Pvt. Ltd., we not only supply industry-leading flow measurement technologies but also deliver comprehensive engineering solutions, from consultation and supply to complete installation and service.
